Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction

Transforming infrastructure through smarter information

The National Infrastructure Plan (Nov, 2011) highlighted the importance of accurate data relating to performance and cost to inform effective delivery and management of the UK's infrastructure.

Although the National Infrastructure Plan does not explicitly refer to Building Information Modelling (BIM), there are clear parallels with the Government Construction Strategy (May, 2011), which is targeting a 20 percent reduction in project and construction costs in the lifespan of the current Parliament and has promoted BIM as a means of driving through much needed efficiencies.

This round-table event will bring together industry leaders to discuss and agree how best to coordinate various government and industry initiatives related infrastructure data management protocols and standards. Participation at the round-table is open to all CIRIA Core, Associate and Network members, however places will be limited.
