Second Roadmapping Workshop
The Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction recently hosted the second of two roadmapping workshops to identify and prioritise core themes and work programmes. The full day event, which was facilitated by Dominic Oughton and Steve Mann of IfM-ECS, took place at the Institute for Manufacturing, and involved both industry partners and academics.
The first half of the workshop focussed on four broad themes covering the whole of the infrastructure life cycle, which were identified during the previous workshop, held in June: performance based design; smart building products and smart construction; performance based maintenance; and asset information modelling and management. The intention was to inform the identification of core programme elements which will be required to deliver significant progress in these four areas during the life of the Centre and beyond, and the topics on which projects should be focussed during the first phase of collaborative projects due to commence in 2012.
In the afternoon, the workshop focussed on common issues emerging from the morning’s activities to identify specific project collaborations and participating partners and actions.
The input of all those who attended made a valuable contribution to the Centre’s strategic direction. When the output of the workshop has been reviewed, attention will turn to the development of the collaborative projects which will deliver the Centre’s ambitious aims and objectives.
