Professor Lord Robert Mair, CBE and ICE President 2018

Head of CSIC

Lord Robert Mair is President of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) 2018. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Royal Society. Prior to his appointment to a Professorship at Cambridge, he worked in industry for 27 years and has advised on numerous tunnelling and major civil engineering projects in the UK and worldwide, including the Jubilee Line Extension, Crossrail and HS1. He is Chairman of the Science Advisory Council of the Department of Transport. Appointed an independent crossbencher in the House of Lords in 2015, Lord Mair is a member of its Select Committee on Science and Technology. 

Dr Jennifer Schooling

Director of CSIC

Dr Jennifer Schooling, who is Director of the Centre for Digital Built Britain Academic Bridgehead and a Fellow of Darwin College, was appointed Director of CSIC in 2013. Dr Schooling is founding Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Smart Infrastructure and Construction  Proceedings journal (ICE), a member of PAS 185 smart cities security standard steering group and the UKCRIC standing committee. She served as a member of the ICE State of the Nation 2017 Digital Transformation Steering Group, the Tideway Innovation Forum and Tideway Academic Advisory Group. Prior to joining the Centre Dr Schooling worked for Arup leading the firm's Research Business.

CSIC receives input from a number of high-level experts including: International Advisory Group; Steering Group; and Executive Committee.

CSIC benefits from working with Investigators, Research Associates and Doctoral Researchers from a range of academic disciplines enabling a productive synergy. The CSIC Core Team delivers effective knowledge transfer, industry training, technology development and deployment and the management of the Centre.
