Professor Robert Mair, Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge and Head of CSIC, will explain how research at Cambridge has been applied to major tunnelling projects around the world, including Crossrail in London and other significant projects. It will deal with issues such as ground risk and effects of tunnelling on overlying buildings. It will also describe new developments in the use of fibre optics and wireless sensors in the construction of crucial infrastructure. A Cambridge University Land Society Event.

The talk will be followed by Q&A session, followed by drinks and canapés.
