CSIC’s Head, Professor Robert Mair, spoke at this year's Hay Festival, one of the most prestigious literary festivals in the world, as part of the University of Cambridge Series - a strand of talks given by current Cambridge academics and distinguished alumni.
Professor Mair CBE, a leading authority on civil and environmental engineering, shared his knowledge on What’s Going on Underground: Tunnelling into the Future for our Cities, examining the most challenging aspects of underground work faced by the world’s most ambitious construction projects, on Saturday 24th May.
Peter Florence, director of the Hay Festival, said:
"Cambridge University nurtures and challenges the world's greatest minds, and offers the deepest understanding of the most intractable problems and the most thrilling opportunities. And for one week a year they bring that thinking to a field in Wales and share it with everyone. That's a wonderful gift."
