Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction

Transforming infrastructure through smarter information

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) is organising its second workshop around the theme of Infrastructure Futureproofing to be held in Cambridge on 2nd April 2014. The CSIC invites infrastructure and non-infrastructure organisations that have interest in asset management to attend the workshop. The scope of the workshop will encompass value and integration of futureproofing into asset management practice. This will address both the ability of infrastructure to be resilient to unexpected or uncontrollable events [e.g. those associated with climate change] and also the ability to adapt to required changes in structure and / or operations of the infrastructure in the future [e.g. expansion of capacity, change in usage mode or volumes].

The workshop is intended to gather together construction engineers, asset managers, and facilities managers etc to discuss current practices and how future proofing might be best used within them. The aims of the workshop are to

(i) Capture value / relevance of futureproofing in asset management

(ii) Determine challenges of futureproofing in whole-life asset management approaches

(iii) Consider appropriate methods/frameworks of futureproofing in asset management

(iv) Capture means of integrating futureproofing into asset management practice

If you’re someone with direct involvement in asset management within your organisation, we would like to invite you to participate in the workshop.  The workshop activities will result in a CSIC White Paper on Infrastructure Futureproofing. As a workshop participant, you would receive a copy of this and your contribution acknowledged in the white paper.

If this is something you will be happy to attend, please let us know as soon as possible as the places are limited and we will then be in touch with further details.
