Transforming infrastructure through smarter information

Smart talking at International Infrastructure Symposium, Japan

CSIC co-organised the Second International Smart Infrastructure Symposium at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan, following the first symposium in November 2012 in Cambridge.

The event attracted media attention and a feature highlighting the significance of the symposium appeared in the national Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun.

Prof Kenichi Soga, CSIC Co-Investigator, gave a keynote lecture titled ‘Innovation in sensor technologies to realise Smart Infrastructure’ which highlighted recent projects and developments emerging from the Centre.

The two-day Symposium attracted about 150 international delegates from academia and industry. The participants included Professor Roberto Cipolla, also a CSIC Co-Investigator, who showed the current research in the area of computer vision.

Prof Soga said: “The symposium was a great success. New innovations in the area of infrastructure sensing and asset management were introduced and discussed. The speed to realise smart infrastructure is accelerating worldwide and CSIC is one of the leading international centres to support this.”
