The award-winning UtterBerry, a low-power, wireless sensing device, designed by CSIC PhD student Heba Bevan, is shortlisted for the Innovation category in the Constructing Excellence Awards 2015.
The annual awards, to be announced on 2 July, recognise the companies, collaborations and projects that share best practice and inspire new and better ways of working to deliver outstanding results. The UtterBerry is shortlisted for Innovation in the London and South East category and winners of the regional heats will be entered into the national awards.
Don Ward, Chief Executive of Constructing Excellence, said: “Market prospects are improving. Most sectors and regions are on the up and it is to be hoped that excellence will return to the fore in projects. It is therefore great to recognise those individuals and organisations who are leading this trend.”
The UtterBerry is no stranger to awards and previous accolades include the Premier Award at the Chartered Institute of Building International Innovation & Research Awards 2014. This prestigious and keenly-contested award brought Heba to the attention of the quarterly newsletter Innovation & Research Focus, where a front-page feature in the latest issue describes the UtterBerry as “a significant breakthrough for the construction and civil engineering industries”.
In addition to the Constructing Excellence shortlist, the UtterBerry has been nominated for the Ground Engineering Awards 2015 to be announced soon.
