CSIC hosts the 10th Brunel International Lecture Series

CSIC will host the second stop of the prestigious Brunel International Lecture Series, a biennial event delivered to organisations around the world for 24 months culminating in the publishing of a key report by the speaker.

The Lecture Series will come to CSIC on 18th June, the night after its international launch at London’s Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), where CSIC’s Head, Professor Mair CBE, is incoming Vice President.

The series lecture, titled 'Collectively we are stronger - engineers generating collaborative solutions to strengthen community resilience post-disaster’, will be given by Duncan Gibb, Executive General Manager SCIRT (Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team), at CSIC at 5.30pm.
SCIRT is a unique collaborative public/private partnership created to deliver the NZ$2.5 billion rebuild of the Christchurch publicly-owned horizontal infrastructure (water, wastewater, drainage and roading) damaged by the series of earthquakes of 2010/11.
Jennifer Schooling, Director of CSIC, said: “It is a real honour for CSIC to be hosting this prestigious event in Cambridge. The subject matter of this 10th Brunel Lecture Series, addressing the design and rebuilding of a community post-disaster, echoes CSIC’s mission to play a key part in planning and constructing better buildings and smarter infrastructure.”
