The CSIC Digital Cities for Change team will be hosting a workshop at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona next month.
The workshop titled ‘Leadership for Responsible Urban Digital Innovation’ is designed to expose participants to the knowledge needed to address competency-related challenges for the successful delivery of public value through urban digitalisation initiatives. It will be led by the Digital Cities for Change (DC2) team, Dr Jennifer Schooling OBE, Director of CSIC, and CSIC Research Associates Dr Kwadwo Oti-Sarpong and Dr Viviana Bastidas. The workshop will be held on 17 November, from 14:45-16:45 CET and registration is through the Eventbrite page which is now live.
The workshop will introduce a novel competency framework, the DC2-CF, developed as part of the long-running interdisciplinary DC2 research project at the University of Cambridge, which can help participants to address these competency gaps CSIC DC2 project team
CSIC’s DC2 project, funded by the Ove Arup Foundation, seeks to demonstrate how built environment data and digital tools can be used to inform better and more cohesive decision-making. DC2 aims to deepen understanding of how built environment data can help improve city planning, management and the delivery of public services.
The ‘Leadership for Responsible Urban Digital Innovation’ workshop will provide a platform for city managers and built environment professionals to discuss challenges faced in successfully planning and executing smart city projects, with an emphasis on competency gaps, and learn about how these needs can be addressed effectively.
The workshop will be of interest to professionals, city authorities and stakeholders involved in the planning, delivery and implementation of smart city projects, and city management. This includes, but is not limited to, representatives of local governments, intergovernmental institutions, technology providers, built environment professionals, consultancies, and companies working to build better cities.
The workshop is designed such that participants will have the opportunity to deliberate on and identify critical challenges related to competency gaps in planning and implementing urban digitalisation projects – and be encouraged to draw on experiences in their organisations and from working with delivery partners.
