Dr Kwadwo Oti-Sarpong, Senior Research Associate at the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC), and Professor Jacqui Glass, Dean of The Bartlett, University College London (UCL), have been awarded The Chair’s Award at the 40th Anniversary Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) Conference, held at London South Bank University.
Their paper, titled "Proliferation of Scientometric Reviews in Construction Engineering and Management Research: Where Next From Here?", was recognised for its alignment with the conference theme, "Looking Back to Move Forward." The paper critically examines the increasing use of scientometric reviews in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) research, offering insights into their limitations and proposing a more nuanced approach to improve their effectiveness.
The panel awarded the work based on its timely and impactful contribution, encouraging the ARCOM community to rethink traditional review methods and explore alternative approaches for advancing the field.
This is a working paper that will be made widely available once published in a journal.
