Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction

Transforming infrastructure through smarter information

Opportunity to participate in dedicated online sessions at this international multidisciplinary invitation only workshop being held from 11-14 July in New York City.

Background
This EPSRC – NSF funded invitation only workshop, is being hosted by the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) and the Cornell Program in Infrastructure Policy (CPIP) and will assemble a small group of international experts from academia, policy and practice to explore how to improve infrastructure delivery in a post Covid world through innovative funding and financing as well as emerging technologies. In the context of major public investment in infrastructure programs, experts from infrastructure’s technological, engineering, social, environmental, economic, and financial dimensions will discuss how a multi-disciplinary approach can address numerous pressing policy challenges, including infrastructure resilience in the face of climate change impacts, net zero carbon and social equity, with a view to identifying potential policy implications and research needs. The outputs of the workshop will be crafted into a series of white papers, which will be shared with a wider audience.

Online participation opportunity
Several plenary sessions will be shown live via Zoom webinar (see list below) and also recorded and uploaded to YouTube. There will be an opportunity to join dedicated online breakout groups which will mirror the in-person groups at the in-person workshop. Online participants can choose to attend just one, two or all three themed breakouts. Before each breakout group participants should view the relevant 30 min plenary introduction presentations (live or recording depending on your time zone). Links to the plenary sessions will be sent after registering for the breakout sessions.

Who should participate?
This opportunity is being targeted at studentsearly career researchers and early career professionals but anyone who is interested is welcome to participate.

Why participate?
This is an opportunity to be part of an important gathering of infrastructure researchers and professionals and to help shape the outputs from the event. In particular it is an opportunity to increase the diversity of views and ideas coming out of the workshop breakout groups, the outputs of which will be an input to the overall workshop report.

Online (via Zoom) plenary, followed by breakout sessions.

Online breakout sessions will be held on the themes of Infrastructure Resilience, Net Zero Infrastructure and Equity and the Role of Infrastructure. A session chair will guide the participants through a series of questions related to the topic. Each session will be offered at two times to accommodate time zones. Registration links for each breakout can be found in the table below. Please free to attend as many sessions as desired. The questions will be different for each session.
