Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction

Transforming infrastructure through smarter information

Abstract: How can we combine machine learning, computational science and civil engineering  to respond to resilience and sustainability challenges in the built environment? In this talk I will discuss examples from Arup's translational research programme, some of which was carried during my RAEng Fellowship at the department here. We will cover work on surrogate models, early stage design prototyping, global sensitivity analysis, and inverse and uncertainty quantification problems for structural design and assessment.
