Dr Jennifer Schooling, Director of CSIC and Chair of the Research Strategy Steering Group at the Centre for Digital Built Britain, has been awarded an OBE for services to Engineering and to Digital Construction.

The New Year’s Honours list recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom.  Dr Schooling, a Fellow of Darwin College, said: “I am delighted and honoured to receive this award which also reflects the success of the collaborative nature of CSIC.  I would like to acknowledge the significant contribution made by the many research associates, academics and industry professionals I work with. It is an exciting time for smart infrastructure and digital construction and I look forward to further collaborative work in the coming year.”

Dr Schooling was appointed Director of CSIC in 2013. Dr Schooling has secured £7.6m in grant funding from EPSRC and Innovate UK for the Centre. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and founding Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Smart Infrastructure and Construction Proceedings journal (ICE). Dr Schooling is a member of the Digital Framework Task Group and the Infrastructure Client Group’s Digital Transformation Task Group. She worked in industry for Arup, leading the Research Business, and the Modern Built Environment Knowledge Transfer Network leading on the development of the agenda for the emerging Future Cities Catapult.
