The Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) and Engineering Council have announced that CICES has received approval to become a Licensed Member of the Engineering Council and assess its members for professional registration at the grades of Chartered Engineer and Incorporated Engineer. The institution previously held Professional Affiliate status. CICES is a CSIC partner organisation.
Engineering Council CEO Alasdair Coates said: “The Engineering Council’s vision is to maintain society’s confidence and trust in the engineering profession. We achieve this through working with partners across the professional engineering community and are pleased to see CICES achieving those standards expected of a Licensed Member.”
CICES president Chris Preston said: “Professional registration offers CICES members a chance to prove their competence at the highest level, whilst at the same time ensuring high standards are maintained for the societies we serve as infrastructure professionals. This is a milestone in the international recognition of the role civil engineering surveyors play within the engineering community.”
CICES is the leading professional body for specialists in geospatial engineering and commercial management in infrastructure. CICES began in 1969 as the Association of Surveyors in Civil Engineering, was incorporated in 1972, and received a royal charter in 2009. It is a registered educational charity promoting the profession throughout the world. For more information see www.cices.org
