Head of CSIC, Professor Lord Mair, has been introduced to the House of Lords. The introduction ceremony takes place in the Lords Chamber before each new Member is able to take their seat in the House. The ceremony of introduction of newly created peers dates in its present form from 1621.

Robert Mair was appointed to the House of Lords as an independent crossbencher in October last year. As a crossbencher, he will owe no allegiance to a political party and will maintain the ability to take part in legislative debates free of party considerations.
