Transforming infrastructure through smarter information

The UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC) is hosting a one-day in-person event on 17 May to showcase how UKCRIC’s national network of experimental facilities can support research and development (R&D) ambitions to enable safe, resilient and sustainable living and generate economic opportunities for the UK.

UKCRIC is a collaboration between 15 of the UK’s top universities with a joined-up national network of state-of-the-art research and innovation facilities which include engineering laboratories, urban observatories, and data analytics, simulation and visualisation capabilities.

At the event, which includes tours of the new PEARL (Person-Environment-Activity Research Laboratory, UCL) facility, academic leaders from across the UKCRIC network will be discussing and sharing how working with UKCRIC is transforming the design and engineering of the UK’s infrastructure and cities. Dr Jennifer Schooling OBE, Director of CSIC, will make one of a number of short presentations at the event followed by a Q&A.

This is an opportunity to find out more about UKCRIC and its network of research facilities available to industry, including the National Research Facility for Infrastructure Sensing (NRFIS), housed at the Civil Engineering Building at the University of Cambridge, which is home to CSIC HQ. Individual facility managers will be on hand to discuss their service capabilities and how they can support individual project needs.
